About Mary

Mary is an artist and illustrator based in Chester, UK.

She uses drawing, embroidery and making things as a means to tell snippets of stories that have both personal and universal meaning. She is currently researching the theme of ‘communication’ and how our ideas, feelings, needs, values are heard and how art can have a unique roll in enabling people to better understand each other.

Through her work she would like to start creative conversations.  It often seems as if the world is becoming more binary and polarized politically and emotionally and we have forgotten how to talk to each other outside of ideas of right and wrong. Can art facilitate a more dynamic form of thinking allowing space for change through offering information and opportunities.
